Buying DVD Burner

DVD burner is just like CD burner, not only can play DVD but also creating DVD. We all know that DVD is the advanced technology from CD. DVD has a great picture quality than CD and also DVD has more capacity than CD. First time DVD burner come to the market it is very expensive, but with the development of technology and many manufacturer build DVD burner, this DVD burner become cheaper. With many kind of brand all over the market makes you need to consider which DVD burner are going to buy and suitable for you.

External DVD Burner

Right now there are two kind of DVD burner that based on place. That is internal DVD burner and External DVD burner. You must decide which kind of DVD that you will use for your computer. Internal DVD burner is cheaper than the External DVD burner, because External DVD burner build with not only as a burner but also with mobility. You do not have to open the computer casing to set up this DVD burner. You can connect External DVD burner to your computer by using USB 2.0 or FireWire connector and you can carry your External DVD burner anywhere and connected with many computer.

If you choosing internal DVD burner you must set up fist the DVD burner by placing it in your computer. You must open the computer case first and than plug some cable to the internal DVD burner. But this internal DVD burner usually has a better speed than External DVD burner.

The speed

The development of DVD burner has increase the speed of DVD burner. Right now the maximum speed of DVD burner that sells in the market is 16×16. This is a very high speed DVD burner for now. But if you have a small budget, a DVD burner with speed 4x is enough to burn your data into DVD. But of course DVD burner with high speed is better to make burning process faster.

Compatibility

When you buying DVD burner you must think for the compatibility of the DVD burner. There are two kind of that is DVD-R and DVD+R. That two kind rewritable media are support for DVD-ROM, but because of DVD+R has been around for a while the DVD player work well with DVD-R.

Formatting

Rewritable media need formatting. To format this rewritable media you will need DVD+RW drive. This DVD+RW have the capability not only for burning DVD but also to formatting DVD. To make this formatting task you will need software. Usually the software are give by the DVD manufacture in the box when you purchased DVD burner. The speed of formatting is depending on the software that you use.
