Problems on External USB 2.0
By : Indra Zakki
There are very rare issue with the USB 2.0. But when problems occur, what to do? Of course, first do not panic. Any problems that may arise when using External USB 2.0 devices:
1. the computer does not detect External USB 2.0 device.
2. The computer detect External USB 2.0 device but the External USB 2.0 device not working properly.
If there are problems such as the above, it should be done by connecting External USB 2.0 device into any USB 2.0 port on the computer. Usually the computer vendor installs more than 1 port on the computer. This is done to see if a USB 2.0 port on the computer running well or not.
Another thing you can do is connecting External USB 2.0 devices to a USB 2.0 port on another computer. This is done to determine whether the external USB 2.0 device is run properly. If after that connect with the USB 2.0 port on the computer External USB 2.0 is still having problems then the problem exists on the external USB 2.0 device. And a thing to do is contact the vendor that produces External USB 2.0 and said to them that there is a problem with their product. It is expected that vendors who produce the External USB 2.0 problems would change it.
OS
Use the latest version of the OS because it will make it easier to detect the External USB 2.0 rather than using the old version of the OS… Usually the latest version of OS is equipped with a variety of drivers who have been in the test whether or not compatible. When using an older version of the OS must be prepared to do the installation of driver External USB 2.0 drivers that will be used, because the possibility of old version of the OS does not yet have drivers that need to run in external USB 2.0 device that will be used.
Hardware
Use hardware that still has a good condition for use but not recommended to use hardware that has been in production or use hardware device that supports USB 2.0. If the External USB 2.0 device is connected with a USB 1.0 port it will appear that the problem may be external USB 2.0 devices work with low transfer speeds even probably External USB 2.0 device does not work at all.
If your USB 2.0 port is damaged or you do not have a USB 2.0 port, this can be overcome by adding a USB 2.0 port on your computer. You can add a USB 2.0 PCMCIA slot into your computer. Ask for suggestions for better improve to the computer expert for the device that more appropriate.
