Installing your New Hard Drive – Part 1

The needs of a big and fast data storage are bigger now, because you need to put your data like audio, video, picture, works and etc in your hard drive. Maybe your Hard Drive is broken so you need to replace it with a new one. Upgrading your hard drive is the option for this. Now computer Hard Drive is more fast and cheap. If you want to replace your computer Hard Drive you better choose computer Hard Drive that greater than the one that you want to change. Replacing a new computer hard drive is not too hard, because the manufacture of computer Hard Drive make the Hard Drive easy to install. So you don’t have to be afraid when you installing your new computer Hard Drive.
But first, if you want to change your computer Hard Drive, it is very important that you must look for the compatibility of the Hard Drive with your computer, because the new computer Hard Dive will not useful if not compatible with your computer.
There are several easy steps to replace your computer Hard Drive. This steps only work on pc.
1. Back up your old data
Before you replacing your existing Hard Drive you must back up your data from your existing Hard Drive to another drive. This is very important because the your old Hard Drive will not be used any more. Copy the data to External Hard Drive or flash drive, but also you can copy your important data to DVD or CD. After you install a new Hard Drive you can move your data to your new installed Hard Drive.
But if you want to copy all the Os and data to your new Hard Drive, first you must run scan disk to find error on your existing Hard Drive.
2. Hard Drive Software
If you don’t know how to install a new Hard Drive, you must go to the experts. But if you want to install your self you must use the software that ship with the new Hard Drive. If the software not ship with the Hard Drive you can find it by googling on the Internet by using keyword brand + type + software of your new Hard Drive. This is great, because the software takes care about formatting and partitioning. Please see the software details before you use it.
3. Jumper setting
If you use IDE Hard Drive, than you must set the jumper. See the instruction at the above Hard Drive (usually the instruction for setting jumper placed above the Hard Drive). If you want to use the single Hard Drive or if you want to make the new Hard Drive as primary Hard Drive, set the jumper in to master but if not set the jumper in to slave. If the setting is correct than you can move to another step.
(If you use more than one IDE Hard Drive, one must be Master and other are slave)
